A Short Video on What to expect in an AIRbiking class
Background
Indoor cycling is an instructor led group cardio vascular exercise class using stationary bikes specifically designed for the purpose.
Indoor Cycling or SpinningR as many people still generically refer to it was first started in California in 1989 by cyclist Johny Goldberg as an alternative to outdoor cycle training during winter months. Johny teamed up with bike manufacturers Shwinn to create a Spinning Bike and training programme and it soon became a huge fitness buzz in the US and across the world. The bikes used and copied by all manufacturers consisted of a fixed gear, or fixed wheel mechanism. Whilst there has been a gradual evolution of the concept with the addition of smoother cranks, sweat resistant frames, electronic monitors and the addition of safety features to account for the dangers incumbent with fixed wheels it has taken until now and the introduction of the Wattbike to break the mould of the style of bike then created.
Revolutions and the Wattbike
Revolutions is an Indoor Cycling Centre, located at The Watershed, a prestigious purpose built facility on the bank of the River Wye overlooking the Cathedral and Public Open Space. It is equipped with 13 of the latest state of the art Wattbikes, the only gym bike endorsed by British Cycling. Simple to operate, easy to understand and extremely versatile, the Wattbikes will be used for cycling to music classes, or AIRbiking (Altered Images Revolutions biking) and as a weight management tool as part of the Altered Images Programme.
