ADRIAN LOWTHER

SUZIE AND ADRIAN

Beginning his career in the leisure industry coaching various sports, including weight training, swimming and badminton, together with a number of team sports, Adrian Lowther has worked to promote leisure activities for all ages and abilities, from competitive sports people and talented young athletes to groups with special needs and casual participants.

This led to fifteen years in facility management including large wet and dry sports facilities, health and fitness clubs and gyms throughout the UK. His work heading up various leisure and cultural services government departments has involved reviews of strategic leisure facility provision for elite international athletes through to casual use by small communities, and also advising clients regarding the acquisition and operation of fitness clubs, pools and leisure complexes. His submission of numerous bids to the National Lottery secured in excess of £20 million funding for new build sports projects. More recently Adrian has successfully worked in direct sales of the latest fitness equipment innovations, opening new markets around the world.

Adrian's passion for health and fitness has been evident from an early age, representing his home County at Badminton and Swimming throughout his school life. At University he went on to compete at National level in Swimming, and Biathlon. Training for these disciplines inevitably led to an interest in strength training and nutrition to improve performance and Adrian devoured as much information as possible gaining numerous qualifications along the way. This in turn fuelled his own brief foray into the world of bodybuilding and ultimately coaching and teaching others in various sports.

Commenting on his own personal development Adrian says 'I owe a tremendous amount to my coaches and mentors who instilled the sports specific skills, discipline and motivation in me to succeed, but the significance of nutrition and the right mental approach was only emerging even on the world stage in the late 70's. Things may have been very different for me had I known then what I know now'.

Adrian set up Altered Images in 2003 following a meteoric rise up the Local Government tree. Adrian comments wryly; 'the higher a monkey climbs a tree the more you can see it's backside'. But the truth is that Adrian was, and still is, happiest and best when working directly with clients on a personal level. His work ethic is to apply his considerable experience and knowledge to enable others to be the very best that they can be.

Through the vehicle of Altered Images Adrian has helped transform the lives of hundreds of people earning their appreciation and respect. These people have included:-

  • Ordinary men and women who have turned to Altered Images for guidance and straightforward information about exercise, nutrition and healthy living.
  • Elite athletes who have sought Altered Images' advice on how to enhance their energy and performance.
  • People who once struggled with obesity, alcoholism and life threatening ailments who accepted a personal challenge and with Altered Images' help have regained control of their bodies and lives.

Adrian's business and personal partnership with Suzie Deutsch has seen Altered Images grow to incorporate Revolutions Indoor Cycling Centre. This indulges the passion they both share for cycling and provides another vehicle (not a car!) for this formidable team to help you to reach your Health and Fitness goals.

Adrian's own personal philosophy is to live simply, live healthily, celebrate relationships, value the present and learn continuously.
